Many of us are stuck in shitty situations we feel like we can’t get out of. It could be that job you hate, a character flaw you can’t seem to grow out of, a relationship that is driving you nuts, or even that life-long dream you can’t seem to find the time to pursue. Often times, we just need a little help. Help to get us off our asses and start working on the things we need to do to change our lives.
A life coach provides an unbiased …
Society has become trained to think that working well means working long hours. To hell with that! I’d rather be sitting by the beach with a cold cocktail in my hand at any given weekend AND still earn more while I’m at it.
You see, the secret in earning more is not in working longer, it’s in being more productive. The more you succumb to self-imposed pressure to work longer, the less productive you become. Just as lack of sleep affects our cognitive functions, being overworked affects our ability to process information resulting to less productivity. The Harvard Business Review conducted a …
Is the title of this article more of a cliché or is it really possible? What’s your take on this? I’ve seen a number of individuals who are leading a happy and comfortable life. They have the time and the money to go on long vacations, take a cruise or simply play a round of golf every weekend with their buddies.
It appears that everyone is obliged to multitask, work extra hours and still look fresh and brilliant the following day just to impress the boss. A lot of people find themselves always on the go – chowing down food and then running for the …
We’ve heard enough of the Generation Y mantra. “Work to live!” Gen Ys are the rebellious young professionals who put more value on flexible work hours over salary. That’s fine and dandy for those who never experienced financial hardships in life. But those who need to work to put food on the table beg to differ.
We got to give them credit though, it IS important to have a work-life balance. Who wants to work their butts off with little time to do the things they love, or spend time with the people in their lives? But, it is not …
Celebrating life, in essence also comes down to celebrating the person who defines who you really are, celebrating the being that sits at the center of who you truly are. Through years of conditioning, most of us lose touch with our true selves; we push ourselves into this mold the world expects us to be. We start looking at ourselves in judgment and disdain, feeling that being ourselves aren’t good enough, that we have to do this, or change that, just so that we can conform to someone else’s idea of what we should be like. Then, as if we feel the world haven’t done enough damage, we then pick up …
Working less and playing more, I don’t think there is a person on this planet who doesn’t dream about it. The million dollar question of course, is how we go about to achieve that goal.
As I see it, this conundrum can be approached from many different angles. We can start practicing better time management skills, use the golden 80/20 rule, and use new technology to make our lives easier, more efficient. But all of these techniques and gadgets mean nothing if you don’t have specific goals you are working towards, or the needed passion for what you do.
When you for example, believe that working less and playing more is just …
It’s 1:00am, and my girlfriend Joy and I, are sitting on the windowsill looking down on to the street. Some guys have been out there yelling and screaming for 15 minutes, going on about how he’s such a victim, how his life has done him so wrong. He is literally having a mental meltdown in the middle of my street, with people shouting out their windows, hoping to shut him up.
As you can imagine, it wasn’t long before the police arrived, after which, there was a whole big power struggle between this hopeless “victim”, and the police. Long story short, the police, who most probably felt like the rest of us …
I recently attended the EO University in Orange County. It’s a time for entrepreneurs who make over a million a year to gather, share ideas, and learn from each other’s experiences, and other like minded activities. Richard Branson even spoke at the meeting, what a pleasure listening to this guy.
Here we are at the conference, a group of business owners that controls billions of dollars in the global economy, and my friend John Chen, of Big Kid, shows up in slippers. I was totally shocked!!
John I say, “What are doing running around this 5 star hotel in your bathrobe & slippers?”
His answer, “I’m tired, and I was out …
Most of us don’t realize this, or think of it for that matter, but creativity plays a major part in both our business and everyday life. We use creativity, in combination with our other skills in order to plan events, solve problems, map out tasks, and even plan our daily lives.
As business owners or even employees, we are in constant competition with others, either competing against rival companies for contracts, or as an employee competing against fellow employees for that raise or promotion. Now most of you will agree that in order to stay on top of your game, you constantly have to come up with new ideas or bring …
I recently bumped into the Uptight Seattleite who was speaking or doing poetry, drinking coffee, or whatever at a local coffee shop in Greenwood. When someone said who it was I was un-moved until I thought, “Oh my God! the cartoonish avatar has come to life” and he’s a real human being?
Being one to take opportunity when i see it, I hopped on the chance to meet yet another cartoon avatar. In the past I’ve met Marge Simpson, Bart Simpson, and Apu when i lived in LA, thanks to my friend Shelia E. who was singing at …
