Work happy or age quick
I’ve was in London for the last few days. What an amazing city! Everything you could ever want is there and there are few cities in the world with this breadth of diversity and culture. The food is “fun”— greasy and unhealthy. Great for soaking up mulled ciders or heavy beers.
We had great weather, and for business I scored some new friendships that I hope will turn into cash one day. If they don’t, I still have some great new friends, and in the end that matters more than the money.
The one thing that England lacked was smiling. I couldn’t help but notice that people looked older than they were and almost nobody smiled. When I tried getting the scoop on hot places from one woman, she looked at me like I was trying to take her wallet. I guess people around these parts just don’t chat with strangers. Maybe they listened to their mothers.
I just landed in Spain and I’m writing this on the train to Barcelona. I’m amazed at the difference in the culture here. I’ve been to London a few times but, this is my first time Spain. Wow! Half of the airport was smooching in corners. People are happy, friendly, and almost everyone has a big smile and that spark of life in their eyes.
I think this is something that is missing just a little bit back home in Seattle where I live. Here is another thing I noticed: People in Spain look younger than they really are. I haven’t even started my week in Barcelona but already I’m committed to coming back and getting some more of this “happy juice” that seems to be floating in the air.

I will have to totally agree with your comparison of the Spanish and the English. Those Spaniards have way more fun. Sevilla is my favorite Spanish city. It is the City of Lovers.
