Failure is a fact of life – it’s how we learn our most important lessons. If you fear failure so much that it prevents you from finding your purpose, then you’re probably better off just looking for a job. When I first started out it took a bit of fumbling, and some failure, as I tried my hand at a lot of different type of businesses and markets before I finally found my calling.
One thing that certainly helped me through all of my endeavors, both the successful and the not so successful, was passion. Passion put wings on my feet in the mornings and helped me seamlessly work through any of the difficulties which crossed my way. When it comes to starting a business, I know everybody would agree with me that passion is one of the most important ingredients one must have.
Think of passion in business as “wonder grow” for your business - it will not only act as a motivator, but also bring your own special touch to your business dealings, adding that x-factor many customers are looking for today when dealing with a company.
Having passion in business terms translates into you staying one step ahead of the competition, having the edge, or the will to do whatever it takes to get the business. I am not saying passion is the only requirement for starting a business, but it will definitely make your climb to success so much easier. There is no better motivator than passion.
Passion isn’t the be all and end all of starting your business, but it is one of the determining factors that will put your business on the map. If you don’t feel passionate about your work – whatever it might be – how can you expect other people to feel passionate about it?
