One thought made me smile: I was surprised by the cultural difference between Germany and the US where the status of "working hard" is concerned. Around here, "working hard" has a positive connotation. Not so much in Germany, and it still makes me cringe when I hear it - working "hard" has the slight taste of not knowing a better way - otherwise you would work smart, and efficiently instead of "hard".
