Global luminaries for leadership summit
Some of the world’s most intelligent minds will be in Sandton in September to share their leadership methods and insights into global economic, economic and management problems at the third annual Discovery Invest Leadership Summit.
The summit will be held at the Sandton Convention Centre on 21 September 2011.
Continuing the tradition of previous Discovery Invest Leadership Summits, speakers have been selected for their provocative, challenging and inspiring philosophies which have earned them international acclaim.
The stellar line-up consists of respected New York economics professor, Dr Nouriel Roubini, well-identified for his now-vindicated predictions of the global financial crisis and named on the Foreign Policy’s Best 100 and the Global Thinkers 2010 lists.
Ricardo Semler, MD of Brazil’s Semco S/A group and one of Latin America’s most visionary company leaders, is sure to impress delegates. Semler is also the author of bestsellers, Maverick and The Seven-Day Weekend and was named ‘Global Leader of Tomorrow’ by the World Economic Forum in Switzerland.
Joining them on the podium will be Chris Anderson and Dan Ariely. Anderson is the editor-in-chief of Wired Magazine, bestselling author of ‘Free’ and ‘The Lengthy Tail’ and was listed as one of Time Magazine’s 100 most influential individuals in the globe in 2007. Ariely, a Professor of Psychology and Behavioural Economics at Duke University, is also a New York Times bestselling author and his study has been widely published in leading psychology, economic and company journals.
Outstanding nearby African leadership will be headlined by Graça Machel, founder and president of the Graça Machel Trust and advocate for youngsters and women’s rights Adrian Gore, CEO of Discovery Holdings and the Sunday Times 2010 Organization leader of the Year as properly as Maria Ramos, group chief executive of Absa Group Ltd., who was voted as one of Fortune Magazine’s most influential girls in the world.
This year’s summit is themed ‘Lead by Examples’ and is expected to be one more sell-out, says CEO of Discovery Invest, Herschel Mayers.
“The forum presents an invaluable chance for first-hand interaction with global leaders who have their fingers on the pulse of macro-economic and management problems – and in today’s fluid company environment, understanding and info is a lot more effective and a lot more crucial than ever just before. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience such ground-breaking opinions of this calibre in South Africa.”
