2010 – Knock it Out of The Park
Change happens to all of us, and more often than not, it comes at the most inconvenient of times. Being a businessperson myself, I’ve been thrown off schedule due to unexpected changes that pops up in my life. How we handle those changes is what matters in the end. Being human, we cringe away from change because of the conditioning we have had from a young age. Our perception of change is completely negative, so much so that we start acting like ostriches when it does occur. We’ve grown so comfortable in our cushy lifestyle, that we fear anything that might disrupt it.
I admit, change can be scary at first, especially when it involves your health or maybe a decline in your financial welfare. However, when change does occur, take a moment, sit back, and analyze the situation. Weigh up the pros and cons. After you’ve analyzed the situation and shed some light on the matter, you might be surprised to find positive outcomes to the situation if approached correctly.
The mind is a wonderful thing, it can work with you to help you attain you goals, or it can be a hindrance when constant negative thoughts are entertained. What I’m trying to say is change your attitude, become your own personal motivator. Prepare yourself for whatever the situation requires from you, and go for it head on. The worst thing you can do is to shrug close your eyes, pray for the best. That kind of thinking isn’t going to bring you anywhere in life.
Start becoming more flexible. We all cling to the past, and stubbornly rejecting new opportunities, just because they are unfamiliar. If you should sit down and be honest with yourself, you will come to realization that your life was maybe not so great to start with. The only reason why you are clinging to it is because your fear of the unknown. The question you need to start asking yourself is – if you just want to keep avoiding the curveballs life is throwing at you, or if you are actually going to grow some balls and finally hit the homerun you’ve been promising yourself.
If you take anything away from the article let it be this, you are the master of your own destiny. You can either carry yourself to greatness, or let negative thoughts and unrealistic fears keep you down. Change your way of thinking, try out some new things, and above all start embracing change. More often than not, we start stagnating, becoming ever so comfortable in our old ways. Do try to avoid this old situation. Grow with your experiences, and of course learn from your mistakes. Remember no one is as blind as those who don’t want to see. Look life into the eye, and embrace change as new opportunities.
